The inaugural annual Diamond Technology Showcase, hosted by the Diamond Manufacturers & Importers Association of America (DMIA) in New York, will kick off in a few days, on June 1st, at the DMIA headquarters at The World Diamond Tower, 580 Fifth Avenue in midtown Manhattan.

The Diamond Technology Showcase is being organised by the DMIA in collaboration with the Natural Diamond Council’s (NDC) Assure Program, the Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC), and the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), and will provide DMIA members and industry members with the opportunity to learn about and test many of the diamond screening devices available today. The Diamond Technology Showcase will run for two months starting on June 1st.

“Every responsible diamond dealer, regardless of his or her position in the diamond supply pipeline, should have direct access to a reliable diamond screening and testing device to ensure that they are not unwittingly accepting or presenting laboratory-grown diamonds as natural,” according to DMIA President Stuart Samuels. As a result, students must familiarise themselves with the available equipment and learn how to use it on a daily basis. The use of screening devices should become a standard element of the diamond purchasing and selling process. Like a diamond scale, it is now an indispensable tool.”
