The light-brown stone is the deposit’s seventh +100-carat stone so far this year.
Lucara, the company that owns and operates Botswana’s major diamond mine, recently announced the recovery of a 470-carat diamond from the mine, according to IDEX Online.
The light-brown stone, which measures 49x42x26mm, is the ninth +100-carat stone and the third +300-carat diamond recovered from the deposit this year.
Lucara discovered an unbroken Type IIa 378-carat gem quality top white diamond in Karowe in February. Following the recovery of an unbroken 341-carat diamond from the same region of the mine two weeks ago, this was the second massive gem discovered in Karowe in two weeks.
